Can I put a fan in my chickens coop?

I have two large stand fans thew one blowing ahead my cockerel like to stand on the table let the breeze lift his skirts and wings.. mine get frozen watermelon ice in their water misted with a hose anything

I didn't mean to upset you. I just thought I would mention it because I did read it somewhere. :idunno
You may have read a question by me. I asked, since dogs aren't supposed to have ice cold water when it's very hot out, if it might be similar for chickens. I still haven't gotten an answer with actual evidence (that's not anecdotal) to back it up, so if anyone can give me some figures here, I am actually curious.

To the OP, I'm a big fan of a shady spot full of dirt because the chickens will dig in it and then sleep there, in the cool dirt. This seems to help more than anything else, which makes sense as chickens do cool off through their legs.

It's miserable here too. I froze watermelon with the rinds for the ducks and frozen watermelon in a cupcake tray for the chickens. They peck at it and ended up eating the watermelon which I'm sure tasted good nice and cold. When I got home no one was panting. I did put the hose on and they ran like hell. I also leave a big pan of water for them to stand in. The smaller ones are in the coop enclosure on sand and they did good too.

Tonite I grabbed one of the tower fans and propped it up outside the window and made it so part of the breeze is going in against the wall they are not. I put my hand in there and it felt comfortable--no panting. I have smaller ones in a carrier in there and I'm worried about them, but I have no where else for them to safely be at night. I probably won't sleep tonite because I'm worried about them and I keep checking on them.

Ice water may not kill them but water that is too cold can constrict the capillaries. A poultry nutrition doctor told me that in our conversation.
I freeze small water bottles and drop one in each fount of cool water when it is above 95F. That keeps the water palatable in the afternoon as long as it is in the shade.
I put a frozen bottle in the footbaths too.

Looks like it is going to be a long hot summer.
This May was the hottest on record here and looks like June is too. Looking at the forecast looks like a broken record. Mid to upper 90s every day and worst yet, only dropping to about 80 at night. But the humidity, heat index well over 100 every day.:rant

I have a fan in my coop. We live in SoCal Inland Valley and it does get hot here. When I built the coop I re purposed an old cooler pad holder, which is the louvered panel you see on swamp coolers. I cut the opening and popped it in the wall. A standard box fan fits in it nicely

The water in my case is for them to stand in and that is what they do. I freeze watermelon, they peck at it, but really don't get anywhere until it starts melting. All the freezing does is make whatever yummy treat that is in there cold and refreshing. They eat it and the liqud left is what they stand in.They have waterers seperate from this.

I have a solar powered ceiling fan in my 8x8 chicken coop. It turns on automatically when the sun hits and off when the sun goes down. I've noticed it keeps the coop fresher, but I'm not sure it keeps it a lot cooler (maybe a tad). I read and read and couldn't find a definitive answer. Some swear by them, some swear against them. I decided for myself and haven't heard my chickens complain.

Where did you find a solar powered ceiling fan? That's a great idea.
