First off, great forum! We have decide that we want to start raising chickens for eggs and I just want to make sure we have all out i's dotted and t's crossed. I have read alot on here about people raising there chicks in the house or garage with a heat a lamp, putting them in a box, rubbermaid container, etc.. Is it possible to put them in the chicken coop right away assuming it's draft free with a heat lamp? Or do they have to been in a brooder type setting? Or can I keep them in the coop but keep them in a confined area? Our coop will be approx. 6x12 feet. Probably get approx. 15 chicks. Thanks in advance.
