I recieved day old shipped chicks on tuesday today my incubated eggs are hatching...can I put them in the same brooder or do they need a seperate one????

I've had to do that, sort of. I put an old oven rack in the brooder to divide it for the first couple days, to give the new chicks time to get stronger and learn about food and water. Then they were able to handle being with the older chicks.

Shouldn`t be much risk with 4 day olds. You didn`t say how many of each age, but the more the merrier. At that age, recognition is just getting started and the more chicks you have that are 4 days, the slower the recognition rate. Be sure to watch for bullies, though......Pop

Just keep an eye on things, it's easier when they're younger but there will still be some scuffling. It helps if you can put another feeder/waterer in the brooder too.

I think they will be fine, too.
I just added one that was a week younger to 7 chicks that were a week older and they didn't beat him up at all.
I was actually surprised.

Just monitor them closely when putting new ones in.Right now I am running 5 brooders baaaa.Hubby is ACCK ACCK at the elec. bill and all the lights we have done bout in a couple months lol.I hatched one lone showgirl silkie MON and thought it would be ok with the tiny bantams We got at TSC over the weekend.I went back down an hour later and they were peck peck at it and bloody bill.So I have 2 chicks in one box right now I just put a newbie in earlier that hatched last night so goin to check they seemed to be doing fine earlier.Hope they get along well for ya. Yup. I agree. After the dog attacked my chicks, I replaced some and added three day olds into the brooder with two that were nearly 3 weeks old. I just watched them for a little while to make sure there were no issues. Now it is cute to watch them cuddle. When scared, the little ones hide under the big ones.
