Can I put outside for a few hours?

If you have a secure cage, and they have access to sun and shade I would go for it. They will LOVE it. If it's not windy, they should be able to move in and out of the sun as needed. Especially at 6 weeks, they're about ready for outdoor life, full time!

Oh yes! I do this with all my chicks once the weather is nice. I have a section of rolled fencing, and I make a circle with it, sort of like a playpen with no bottom. Then I put that in a nice, grassy spot. The chicks seem to love it. I usually sit in a chair outside to watch them at first, then I will let them be in the fence alone--of course I'm always near by.

How funny! I have three glw chicks that are five weeks old right now, and I was thinking the exact same thing. They're ready for some outside time. Also at this age, they are pretty well feathered.

Just one thing....watch so they aren't in the hot sun too long on warmer days, or just make sure you put them out in a shady spot.

Have fun!

It is so much fun watching them on their first outing. Just keep an eye on them. You'll know if they get cold. Be sure they have access to water.
