Can I put worms into hot composting or will the heat cook the worms

Is there a reason you cannot compost on the ground?

I know they sell those compost tumblers that are off the ground but I don't think I have seen any videos or recommendations to add earthworms.

I prefer to do it in a bin with holes all over its working really well

I think it would be to hot for them.

I know I don't find any near the surface in my garden once it gets above 85° outside.

Earthworms are not heat tolerant. BSF are a little more heat tolerant, but even then i've had no luck farming either in FL or TX

You'll get cooked worms. Earthworms naturally get into my bins (the bottom is open wire mesh) and I have quite a lot of worms at the moment but they'll escape into the surrounding soil once summer gets going, and then return in the fall.
