Can I raise Chicks in my backgarden?

Hmm thanks for the feedback guys. I wont be able to run a cable out to my coop in my garden. Is there any 'wireless' or natural sources of heat I could possibly use?
Can you incubate in the house?
What is your climate/location?
Putting your location in your profile helps folks give better answers/suggestions.

I live in London and I will add this to my profile later :) as for incubating them in my house yes I sure can :D but they will need to live outside

Is there a reason why you couldn't build a brooder and set it close to the house, perhaps under a window and run electric through the window to the birds in the brooder? How cool would it be to build a brooder attached to the house with the window being the door, then you could "look out the window" to check on the chicks!!!

This is a brillant idea. *starts considering windows* :jumpy

Thanks guys great ideas but I would not be able to carry these out unfortunately. I was thinking to keep the chicks in my coop and can add a heat source to the nest box wirelessly somehow so they can run around the coop but can go to the nestbox's for warmth

I seriously don't know how you're going to keep baby chicks warm enough 24/7 without a broody hen or electricity.....especially the first week or so.
Unless you heat something up that can hold heat for long time, have 2-3 of them to refresh and rotate multiple times thru the day and night.
They can't regulate their body temps until maybe 4-6 weeks old and need an external source of heat.
Planning to hatch in the very warmest part of the summer would help.

Unless you are set up to care for them properly, you should not even consider hatching them. Nor would it be a good idea to use the nest box as their heated space. The very last thing you want to do is to train chicks to sleep in a nest box.
