Hardware cloth is the best, but very very expensive. Chicken wire is good over the welded wire, but weasels can still get through the welded wire higher up, Ive seen it happen and it has happen to others.

Look, Im not trying to start a debate. Predator attacks happen daily! You can read about them every day on the forum. It hurts horrible to loose your pets to that, and I was trying to be nice. My original post was only trying to help and I am surprised at the attack. My hope is that is not something you will experience and I was only trying to help ensure you didnt. I did so respectfully.

No one is below me. I treat everyone with respect as long as they do the same.

It wasn't just my thread. Raccoons have been beefed up on this thread in my opinion. Things just carried over from other posts. Idk y. I am glad my coop is inside a chainlink run. The chainlink is hotwired, so I think my girls are okay.

well..hot wired will help ALOT! thats good! I need to do that for mine also! Mine arent in a safe run right now..(i had to move them from their other coop..) so...i'm waiting and hoping and praying i dont find them all dead one day.. Alright. Good luck with your birds. I just think when people try to help, ther eis no need to create all of this.

I hope they remain safe so that you can enjoy them for years to come and I hope no one else tries to pass along constructive criticism for fear of being attacked.

Wish someone had told me about MINKS!!! Who would have thought??? Starting a new thread about the SUPERMAN MINKS now. they can go right through a hole 2 inches square! they're like a coons arm with jaws. I'm just glad he was so unafraid of me that he stood there, over my best dead rooster, looking me in the eye while I shot him.

I am going to agree with Zahboo on this, raccoons have been made into mindless, vicious killers here, wich they are not,for the most part, they are scavengers, I had a raccoon problem in Wv with my small flock of ducks, the biggest problem?, they ate their own wieght in the ducks..FOOD, only had a raccoon get into my pen to kill my ducks once, and it killed and half ate one of my pekins, turns out that same raccoon was shot by a nieghbor several days later, it had distemper.

I even had a DEER knock over the pen fence to eat the duck food...and a nest of eggs O_o.

same thing with cats on here, people HAVE pet cats on here, but god forbid a stray cat come into a yard with chickens, do you know the likelyhood of a cat killing an adult chicken?, cats are natuallt not BUILT to eat a large meal, one mouse will keep a cat happy for a day or two.

sorry for hijacking
