Can I save her!?? Help!!!

I would hesitate to let her on the ground (lots of organisms in the soil) if you can put her in a cage perhaps and ensure she is not near the other birds (their dander etc also carry organisms and until that wound is further along healing I wouldnt risk it)

I still have her in a secluded cage. She has NO contact with the others, and she is on a bed of straw. She can get up, and move from one side to the other to get comfortable. I guess I will keep her in there for a week or so...better safe than sorry. Thanks!

I still have my Maggie in a cage in the garage. Her wound is healing well, but I am most afraid of letting her out and her dust bathing and getting it all dirty. She is getting new skin and the old scab is coming off now. She is also getting in her new feathers. Except for the place with the really deep wound, I doubt there will ever be feathers there again.
Any way, the whole point of this post was just to let you know, I have kept her caged for almost 2 weeks now. and away from the others, I just don't want the others pecking and getting her all riled up. I was going to take her cage down the the barn today for her to be near the other chickens, but she just gets so riled up and I want her to heal up a little better before she get all riled up again.

Way to go Deb. I love the lead vitamin bit, lol!!
Have you been able to show the little girl her hen lately.
She would be really pleased to see that she is fighting this even though she isnt out of the woods yet.
Just to see her standing may cheer her up!
Love your work !!youll need some tlc yourself.
remember, you are coming here on the chicken railway for a holiday!!!i hope!
