Can I save her!?? Help!!!

Well.....Big Red is doing good. Today I took her out to cleanse the wound. Its still pretty bruised, and she does NOT likeme messing with it. She is getting spunky! I noticed she was not eating today..and she would not take the egg yolk with her meds. I was pretty worried....then thought..well.....if there is another hen there, she might eat it. So, I get one of my BO hens, whe was crying at the door for me to come pick up. I swear, she is sooo rotten, it sounds like she is saying Moooooom!! Anyways....I get her, set her on the work table nest to Big Red...and offer red the yolk again. Of course my little mouthy one GRABS it from my hand. Well...red looked at her...looked at me...and started eating the yolk like she was starving. Woohoo! Good girl. When she was done with the yolk...I offered Red her feed...again...that dumb look like.." what am I supposed to do with this?" So, out comes my hen again...and she of course started eating from the dish.....then red starts eating vigorously! Guess she just was tired of eating alone. Looks like she will have "dinner dates" every day now, untill she can go into the hospital pen, with her friend.

Wow Deb, that is a great way to get her to eat, this comes up often with people having probs with an anorexic chook.

some folks have what is known as a green thumb but Deb, I am still trying to figure out what we should call yours!!!

You just have a "gift" for helping these birds.

I haven'theard from the 'dirty bird lady" since her last call, wanting some of them back. As soon as I can get to the PO,( still feeling a little weak in the tummy) and I get these last ones sent out....I will call her and see if there are more. At least if I can get them from her before winter, I know more will have safe warm homes.
As for Big Red. .. SHE is doing all the fighting to live. I am just a support system here. She seems to like when I sit with her, and we just chat. I talk softly...she coos. Such a sweet bird!

My RIR, Marti, wasn't so lucky.

She had a punctured lung after her dog attack and died about 30 minutes later.
