My dad and I have been working on a temporary coop for our flock so that we can take out the old one and have more time to build the permanent coop later on. I suggested to my dad to let me add removable roosts and he agreed to add them. I'm going with aged tree branches we keep in a pile because I want it to be natural rather than pieces of wood boards. Plus, our flock(not including the ducks) love roosting in our apple trees during the day when they're not wandering around the yard.

I'm looking for ideas on how to put them together from taking looks at photos of other peoples' roosts.

Post your photos below

Thanks! :)

Ours is a little over three feet off the ground, we have a ramp along the wall that they can climb up or down if they wish, some use the ramp, some don't. It is filled with sand, sweet PDZ and a little DE to keep mites/lice away. We also add fresh herbs from the garden when we remember to. We hang a fine slotted scooper underneath and clean it out daily.

You should add 'tree branches' to your thread title.
..and bold this part of your post:
" rather than pieces of wood boards "

That's a neat idea

The under-tray idea could easily adapt to your three branches above it. If you pre-drill holes in your branches, you could easily remove them without splitting them. I have also seen two small pieces of 2x4 with a space/slot in between them used as branch holders....and also L shaped pieces of lumber as branch holders as well. Pipe tape (flexible metal strapping with holes in it) could help hang your branches however you'd fancy them.
