Thanks guys. I really like SamG347's pen. If I was to make one like that, would they be all right through the winter in Ohio? His design would work the best because I have a cat so that = no indoor quail

I am thinking about where to put it now. lol. Thanks everyone

I have a hen outdoors, though i dont reccomend anyone do it until i see how mine does all winter long..but so far she's perfeclty fine...i think as long as drafts are kept out and she doesnt get wet she'll be fine just like my coturnix are.

I'm pretty sure he was meaning Coturnix quails though

Coturnix- no (as long as they're 4 weeks or older)

Button quails- theres varing oppinons--- if you are considerign this for button quail, i would not put any button quails outdoors this time of year. As they havent had a chance to winterize. My button quail hen i have outdoors has been outside for something like 3 months now...she's used to the temps down below freezing already.

I have three button quails in the house, they were too young to go otuside when it was still warm, and now that htey're old enough to go outside it's too cold and they could die....so the trio stays in until spring then they'll be outside too.

Button quails do not need a heat source if kept out of drafts and have enough buddies to stay warm with.
