Button quails- theres varing oppinons--- if you are considerign this for button quail, i would not put any button quails outdoors this time of year. As they havent had a chance to winterize. My button quail hen i have outdoors has been outside for something like 3 months now...she's used to the temps down below freezing already.
I have three button quails in the house, they were too young to go otuside when it was still warm, and now that htey're old enough to go outside it's too cold and they could die....so the trio stays in until spring then they'll be outside too.
Button quails do not need a heat source if kept out of drafts and have enough buddies to stay warm with.
