Can I see some roost set up pictures?

...and they all a view out of the window!

That would take up much less room, especially if I made it that they had to climb down instead of jumping off of the side. Hardware cloth could work as a 'wall' . Perhaps a poop board that fits diagonally under the roost will work also.
The 'next' coop will be designed for functionality.

...and smaller birds.

I fixed my roost with an 8 ft 2x4 extending from one wall the the other (8x8 coop) with braces that extend out from the wall and go back to the wall in a V formation. I did that to make cleaning the floor easier. I did the poop board the same way but I cut out slits in the poop board to fit around the braces. I made the roost board about 36" from the floor and the poop board is 8-10" lower than that. Here is a pic of just the roost, I don't have one of the poop board.

There is space for everyone, but they like to bunch up together. Oh, when they hop down they usually hop to the edge of the poop board first, then to the floor.

The ladder roost is suspended by chain and can be pivoted up out of the way when I need to access the whole coop. A cable attached and run thru pulleys to the door with a counterweight on it allows me to lift it up from the door very easy.

old chicken lady,
My husband was thinking about something like that, but I see that it needs to be further from the wall than what he had planned. he was going to use those shelf brackets that they sell at lowes. I have 24 big birds. The coop was plenty big enough, but then the rolling egg nest boxes, and feeders, and automatic door were added... less room for roosts than we planned. half of them sleep on the floor anyway.

I guess I just really would like a poop board. ...and not have to move cinder blocks to clean. Thank you all for the ideas, I will get the handy dandy chicken carpenter to take a gander.
