Can i see your Duck Housing set-ups please???

I am using two strands of electric tape. One at 6 inches above ground, one at about two feet above ground. We just started letting the ducks spend the night outside last week, then freezing temperatures returned. The tape was not difficult to set up, and this was my first go.

I plan to continue the electric around the larger pen (right now it is around the house (4'x8') and attached feeding & watering pen (4'x8').

We may go with the shorter pen anyway, due to sight lines. I am fairly short. I know it is not ideal for management, but if it keeps peace in the household and neighborhood, I will try it.

May I say the Dutch door works out as well as I had hoped?!

I can take a look, opening the top door, and say hello or encourage them to leave the house. I can reach a small rake in to fluff the bedding, I can add bedding . . . and not worry about someone scooting out the door.

Wish I could figure out how to make a secure pop-in screen for the top, to give them more light and air in the summer without worrying about the foxes and such. That will have to wait.

I click on the Uploads link in the blue line near the top of the page, then Choose which file on my computer to upload, Submit the request, wait a bit, then I copy the link to the picture (the thumbnails seem too small for me) into the post I am writing.

I hope this works. Here's a picture of my duck pen. It's raised for safety and for ease of cleaning. I can move the wheelbarrow right next to the door and rake the straw out. They sleep in the back (closed) area.

We converted my rabbit hutch to a duck pen and it has worked beautifully for my 4 adult ducks and their babies.

here's a close up....there is a door to the enclosed area, I have a concrete mixing tub in there for them to nest in, makes it easier to clean cause I just have to remove the tub and scrape the bedding into the compost bin and then fill it back up and replace it. There is a door to the right into the open area. The floor is part wood and part hardwire cloth (that's where I put the water bowl, less mess)

we have a huge run for the chickens, rabbits, and ducks all together and they love it! It is so big I am thinking of dividing it in half and putting 2 nigerian dwarfs on the other side.
