Can I still use this bag of DE to kill earwigs?

Went to the feed store for DE- only brand they had was not labeled "food grade" but they assured me it was OK to use with chickens. Did more research at home and found out that the "85%" stuff I bought is NOT food grade. My question is: I had earwig problem around my heat pumps that cost $300 to repair so I would like to use the stuff I bought for insect control but not in the chicken coop. My chickens will dig around the heat pumps at times but have lots of other room to roam so it is not a daily exposure issue. Would it be all right to use what I have around the heat pumps? I have ordered food grade DE online for use in the coop.

I was googling and some are saying that it is chemically treated and thus poisonous. You might google "chemically treated de" to see for yourself as I am not sure.

I haven't been able to find out more on line- guess I'll just use it in the front yard (where the chickens don't roam). Thanks for the input.
