My friend has a hen that went broody and she got some eggs from a different friend and I gave her two of mine. She’s going to give all the chicks away when they grow up and asked if I wanted my two when they were babies. I want to get them when they are little mostly so that it won’t take forever to get them to trust me. Is it bad to take chicks away from their mother? The hen already has six chicks would she miss the babies?

Yes they may cry if they are use to the hen but if you get em early enough they might not. Just keep em warm like 100°. Im sure there a thread on here that will tell you all about chicks and temps

Okay!

So one of my silkie egg’s didn’t hatch yet so we took one of the other chicks that hatched and the silkie that hatched! This is them on the way home! Hardly peeped for mommy after the first few minutes!

Eh. I had to take a single chick from a pair of broodys (they only had one between 7 eggs, and were happy to raise it together) because of a fox problem. The chick cried for a day or so, then made friends with one of the eleven incubator chicks I had, and that was that. As for the moms, they looked for their baby, but after a few days they rejoined their flock, and didn’t seem to remember the baby a week later when I put it in the baby coop.
