Can I teach the chickens to be friendly?

Ours free range all day, almost every day. In almost a year, I think we have had only three times that everybody was not on the roost at bedtime. Twice it was the banties and once an EE. They were in the carport that the coops are attached to. Keep them locked up in their coop for a week or two before you let them out and you should have no trouble with them spending the night out somewhere else.

It is WAY better to get chicks, but yes, pullets will learn to be friendly if you hold them A LOT. Our hens, that we have been holding often since chickhood, follow us around and come when called.
