Can i use puppy pee pads for chicks in the brooder

i wanted to use puppy pee pads after my chicks hatch. i heard chicks might try to eat bedding. so i want to use pee pads on the floor of the brooder. ill change them a few times a day. is that a good idea?

The chicks' poops are so small many people just use paper towels. Or you could use paper towel over the pee pads and just change the towels frequently, so you don't go thru as many pee pads.
