I'm not sure what porridge is. I looked it up in the dictionary and it just said "a soft food made by boiling meal of grains or legumes in milk or water until thick."

Hmmm.... I feed my birds cooked oatmeal sometimes. They like it. I use water, not milk.

Chickens will love porridge Goldenchic. They'll eat it wet or dry and say "Thank you very much, may I please have more?" for it. That's loosly translated from "Bawk bawk, bak bak bak baaaak bawwwk?" Not sure what you are asking about grits. Grits is really only found easily in the southern part of the U.S. and it's a sort of porridge, but more thick than what you're used to, thick enough to be a side dish along-side of fried eggs for breakfast, or even certain dinner dishes. It's a lot like polenta in fact, though America's version is almost always white, rarely yellow.

If you're asking about "grit" that is different. Grit is a crushed granite gravel that chickens use in their digestive tract to help grind grain in their feed. Does that help or make things worse?

You can feed oatmeal cooked or uncooked. Our ladies love cooked oatmeal with a tablespoon or two of olive oil. One of their favorite foods.

Mine like porridge (oatmeal in the US) dry or made with broth, milk or water. I give some warm porridge on cold mornings and they love it. Sometimes I sprinkle flax in it...Grits is a 'southern thing' in the US... I did not like it when I moved from Europe to Florida....I will eat it with cheese added but not my favorite

Grit is the crushed granite/rock stuff the chickens need to 'grind up' food. I sometimes scatter regular oatmeal, uncooked, in the run and they will happily eat it
