Can Mallard/Rouens Fly?

All 9 of my mallards just took a major victor lap around my property when I called them a few minutes ago! They are 11 weeks old. They took off running, then flying...a few made a complete circle around the house & across the vineyard, one landed on the roof & had to take off again, & one bumped (gently) into the side of the house! Funniest thing I have seen in a while.

Are you saying hatchery Mallards don't fly? I thought all Mallards could fly if not clipped.

ETA: I'm not trying to argue I'm just curious what the norm is. I purchased 7 Hatchery Mallards.
Oh no they can fly. However, there is quite a bit of weight difference in hatchery Mallards and Breeder Mallards. This could make difference when breeding with other breeds

Ah ok. I understand. Now I've looked online about size of mallards and found they should be around 3 pounds, but my male mallard thats 11 weeks old is closer to 5 pounds, the other 6 mallards are closer to the 3 pound mark. So could his size difference bey due to hatchery versus breeder mallards?

I've never weighed my mallards, but they can all fly. Even my Rouens can get themselves off the ground...well for a second or two.
Guess we'll see. I just gave 4 of the duckling crosses to a friend who has a huge pond. I think he'd rather they can't fly too much, but then I worry if they'll be able to escape from predators.....Anyway, putting another 7 eggs in the bator tonight.

Most likely yes
