Can my aggressive rooster settle?

At over a year old, one of my friendly roos suddenly started to peck at my feet as I walked by. I figured out it was because he was always looking down & not realizing it was me. He just saw an "intruder" (foot) & went for it. He has an extra large comb that flopped over, blocking sight in one of his eyes, which also contributed to his poor recognition. As soon as I started talking to him as I approached or picked him up so he could see it was me, the problem stopped. But all circumstances are different. Your results may vary. Thejperez's method really works for roos who are just getting too uppity.

Yes, I have been talking before I open the coop door since the initial pecking at my feet in the dark happened because in that case I figured I startled him and he probably didn’t expect it and just thought it was an intruder. I don’t know if I did say anything today but he certainly knew it was me. I reacted like a giant scaredy-cat because I didn’t expect it and he cornered me but I fought him away. I will be more prepared in the future and I will look into that method.

My sister, who is not a chicken person, got attacked (and not harmed in any way) by my bantam flocks now ex rooster.
This tiny dude made a grown woman scream like a banshee!

After I stopped laughing I went to where he was and yanked him up and put him in the Batchelor coop with his 'brothers' where he has been ever since. He's still a little aggressive to me sometimes, only when I point a finger at him his hackles raise. He will never be the flock rooster again and I don't deal with him very often, but he still gets put in his place every time he comes at me, which isn't very often now.

With a constant 'I'm your boss' attitude, like I posted earlier, you should get good results.

Might he settle down - perhaps, but I have to agree with the others. Kids come first. One split second of a flogging to the face and resultant vision damage - not worth the risk.

I had a young male that did that, first to me then my hubby. He had to go. I sold him to a fellow.

I want to add that I told the fellow of my concerns. Apparently the fellow was looking for a Rhode Island White male for his females and he is fine now, maybe from the change of environment.

Lol he is a pretty small fellow! (Quite handsome though) My Jethro is huge. He didn’t hurt me in any way and I don’t think I was actually at risk... just wimpy and caught off guard. I 100% would have laughed at me if I was a bystander Haha

Yeah he is at a minimum banned from being around the kids and then play it by ear depending how he acts in the future. Not sure if it’s worth keeping him around though if he’s going to ruin the whole chicken experience for us all. ‍

It was funny. He is pretty! He was picked up as flock roo because of that. He attacked purely out of aggression. I can understand being spooked and attacking but anything else is intolerable.
