Can my BO have chicks this year?

Would you hatch eggs this year?

We are nearing Spring now in the UK and last year in late autumn my BO got broody and I put some fertile eggs under her and all was going well until we got some mites entering the coop that stopped her being broody, so it was a failed attempt.
Though this year, I want to try this again, but this time do it properly with a Broody coop, but she is now 5 years old, and I am wanting to know whether she can still get broody at her age and what age she will stop being broody?

Hi! Yes, at 5 years old, there is still a good chance they’ll hatch! :ya I hatched eggs (chicks) from my 6 year old Blue Orpington:wee Never had any issues.

I had a hen go broody and hatch eggs for the first time when she was 6 or 7 years old. Her eggs hatched well and she gave as some lovely chicks. So I'd say yes, if she's willing, by all means, go for it :)
