Can My Chickens Eat......... Questions and Answers

That's what we call chard and my chickens love it!

As with any new food, they do need to be brave enough to try it, then learn that it tastes good and won't make them sick, before they get enthusiastic about eating it. Then they eat it down to the ground, scratch up the dirt to eat the roots and finally take a dust bath in the hole. So I plant a lot of it.

I gave my chickens onion grass by accident tonight. Is it okay?

It's safe for them to eat. I don't know if it will affect the taste of their eggs at all. That might depend on how much they ate, if it affects the taste of eggs at all.

My chicks were in the backyard yesterday and got into my petunias. Ripped up quite a few of the leaves

Are they good for them? or were they just looking to cause trouble?

Also, does anyone know if they can eat marigolds? I read somewhere marigolds are good for chickens but not sure if its pot marigolds (which are edible for people too) or the regular - I think french marigolds that you put in the garden. Can they eat both?
