Can my hen live alone

I don't know for sure they all have such individual personalities
to be honest 2 weeks is a long time for her to be by herself but if possible I would give her as much contact as I could to stop her becoming depressed just keep a close watch on her and hopefully she will be ok xx

If you made her a house pet, I think she would adjust just fine, and bond with people instead of chickens, since you don't care if she has eggs or not.

Your dog would probably make that impossible though. Since he has already killed one, he will go after her too., or any new ones.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Yes, your hen will survive a few weeks alone. Just give her lots of attention. You might bring her with you inside the house while you are not busy, hang out with her on the porch, but she won't up and die in the next few weeks.

Sorry you lost your rooster. I hope you can get her some nice companions. Welcome to our flock!

Welcome to BYC. I am sorry you and your hen lost her companion. I dont know that there is a difinitive answer to your question as i think that each chicken is defferent in the way they have been raised. Have they been raised as a pet with holding and human interaction on a regular basis? Will that keep her in her norm? Has she been raised as a traditional layer or feed animal with little to no contact? Has she been more of a loner even though the roo was in with her? There are different variables for each chicken. That is my guess to the answer to your question. Do the best you can to keep her as close to her norm as you can even though he is now gone. I think that is the best chance you have of helping her to live out her life.
