Can Roosters turn into Hens? pics

When males turn into females, it's called protandry, and when it's the other way around, it's called protogyny.

Nope. That's what I thought too.
Hens can have a dormant testes.

Interesting, and what about some instances where the one productive ovary goes south(is attacked by some disease and renders it inoperable). There are stories to this nature and has been reported when such instances occur the hen will show signs of changing gender towards male characteristics and actions too. What's your take on such instances as this.

Have you read this entire topic?

I agree with age. If his testosterone dropped enough he could show some more 'feminine' characteristics just because the there isn't as much testosterone to overpower it. Kinda like how men lose muscle as they get older etc.

So in other words if I want to know what was said go elsewhere? OK.

Is it illegal on here to post the info URL or is it just another stumbling-block thrown down around here

I just have this gutfeeling that you didn't read it yet. It is just a few pages. Not a 100+ pages topic...

I thought I spoke to that specific point- "can alter the physical appearance but a hen won't grow testes & a cock won't develope ovaries". Yes, in the case of diseased ovaries a hen may, because of hormone imbalance, develop secondary male sex characteristics. However, that hen will not grow functioning testes & truely become male.

Please direct me to a source for information that supports this. A hen can't "turn into a rooster". A hen may become dominate in the absence of a male. A hen, because of disease, may develop male feather or comb characteristics, but a hen can not grow testes & become male.
If you can direct me to valid scientific information to the contrary I'll eat my hat.

I am shocked. Do you have references?

Not at hand, but I asked the same question in a topic at the-coop.org and was given a satisfying answer.

Yeah henk I read it and was just being lazy, I reckon, and not wanting to go do an extensive search for info.
