Can Roosters turn into Hens? pics

Long, long, ago I performed a necropsy on a hennish rooster and discovered his testicles hat atrophied to 1/4 the normal size and were discolored. Microscopic evaluation of a testicle revealed multi nucleated cells so I sent the remaining testicle to the lab which determined the testicle was cancerous but I can't remember exactly what kind of tumor was diagnosed.

any chance this is a seasonal eclipse plumage such as is found in some jungle fowl species?
...in which case he would change back

A male chicken can not turn into a female chicken & a female chicken can not turn into a male chicken. Gender identity is determined by the presence of reproductive organs & not by outward appearance alone. Hormone imbalances, usually caused by disease, can alter the physical appearance but a hen won't grow testes & a cock won't develope ovaries.

Nope. That's what I thought too.
Hens can have a dormant testes.

Interesting, and what about some instances where the one productive ovary goes south(is attacked by some disease and renders it inoperable). There are stories to this nature and has been reported when such instances occur the hen will show signs of changing gender towards male characteristics and actions too. What's your take on such instances as this.
