Can shock kill chickens/chicks

:hugs Sorry for the loss of your flock :hugs We do need a picture of your set up .... If a cat got in, any other predator will. You need to secure before getting anymore chickens :fl You should update your profile with your location, informs us as to the time zone & weather conditions in your area as well as any type of predators you're having to deal with :hugs

I woke up this morning to a dreadful sight of my almost 40, two months old lying dead in their coop. Yesterday i shifted them to this coop because their previous one had become too small for them.

Some chicks had bloody wounds but the majority had absolutely no signs of wounds on them. I had switched off the coop light for the night.
Photos - housing, chicks if you have any photos of them, tell us how much space you have.

Were any of these chicks ones that you posted about yesterday that you thought had Coryza?https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/chickens-eyes-shut.1284341/

Luckily where I live we virtually have no predators before this cat came. Many times I've forgotten to close my chicken house at night and in the morning I find them safe. Guest I just grew lazy to bother about their security.

Sounds like weasel to me, not cat.

You were lucky before, your luck ran out!
Most preditors you will never see, unless you set up a trail cam to watch day and night.
And only after you get chickens will you truly discover the multitude of things that eat chicken.
I have never heard of a place with no preditors or threats to chickens.
Sorry for the loss of your birds!
