Can shock kill chickens/chicks

YOU are cold! :mad::tongue

It could have been the weather, what if the OP is in like the North Pole or something...... 40 birds dropping dead overnight, it is the cold weather!
Before we get into a dangerous place, let’s remember those with experience have learned some things. One being that those birds didn’t freeze.

How do you know they didn't die of the cold? It could have been a combination of the shock factor which left them even more susceptible to the harsh, frosty, icy, chill you to your bones cold December! I think I just solved this matter...... thank you very much. YES! I win!

E
Yesterday i shifted them to this coop because their previous one had become too small for them....
Some chicks had bloody wounds but the majority had absolutely no signs of wounds on them.

Eat some of the first few and kill the rest for fun...this is classic weasel. If you check closley on the dead ile bet you would find neck feathers disrupted and bite evidence there.
this carnage had to create alot of noise that went on for at least an hour.
This critter will be back tonight for sure.
Use one of the dead in a live trap, wire it in the back of the trap so he has to work to get it out. You will catch him this way.

Uh i'm gonna say that it wasnt cold, cause it hasnt been killing cold across Canada the past few days it's actually been pretty warm. And even the far north it hasnt been killing temps. 8 week olds should be able to handle those temps especially with there being 40 in the group.

I dont k ow where the OP is. And guessing cold could be accurate this time of year, but not likely woth the current weather at least in the americas.

The OP replied about how the weather was a factor. The next time there is a thread about springtime chicks vs fall chicks she’d be able to chime in with first hand knowledge and experience that perhaps might sway some to wait till spring or at the very least prepare differently. Right?
Shamo knows I like him always have. He’s a little ray of sunshine (giggles) and we both like to hang Kenny G CD’s in trees! :cool:
