I have a 3 week old silkie chick which is covered in poop making it's down wet can I give it a quick bathe and dry?

Yes. I recommend a bubble bath soak with a mild children's bubble bath liquid. Let the chicken soak to loosen the grime. Don't rub the feathers or they will be ruined. Rinse well with a sprayer. Towel to soak up the water and don't rub. Blow dry.

Chickens adore being blow-dried.

Thanks just blow dried and must say it's the cutest thing ever!

Dawn is harsh, but I've used it for really tough jobs. For chicks, the milder soaps are better. Feathers are very delicate, and dawn would strip all the oils from them.
