Can silkies hatch with less than 5 toes?

I had what I thought was a silkie egg to hatch, but there are not 5 toes. Can a silkie have less than 5 toes? I set eggs from pure bred chickens, but there are several different kinds of eggs. Now I need to identify the chicks!

Yep, that can happen and it still sometimes happens to me...it's just hidden genetics and should breed out over time!
