Depends on what you're treating for. Safe-guard for goats (which is a pretty common wormer) is like $25 for 4 fl oz.Old thread, But one last question. After the $40 fecal float, how much are the medication costs?
Ok so not too bad! Will any vet treat chickens? I doubt there are any Avain doctors near meDepends on what you're treating for. Safe-guard for goats (which is a pretty common wormer) is like $25 for 4 fl oz.
You'd have to call and ask, but most vets will not treat chickens. Vets that do exotics or livestock or avian would be your best bet, however even if they agree to see them, that doesn't mean they actually know a lot about chickens. There's very few vets that actually specialize in poultry.Ok so not too bad! Will any vet treat chickens? I doubt there are any Avain doctors near me

Many people on this forum simply handle medical matters at home.
Hope that vet works out for you!

Links, please? (If you have them) Or general keywords I should search? You can also do fecal floats yourself if you get a microscope and a few key materials. It's a little bit of money up front but ordering most of the supplies in bulk on Amazon will have you set for a long, long time... youtube is a good place to get the 'how to's down, and from there it's all fun. I got mine originally for identifying koi parasites but it gets used for a lot more than that. Mine hooks into the computer- so the slide is blown up in real time to the size of my computer screen- no straining the neck and eyes.
Yes- I've never taken a chicken to a vet, but my friend has - never less than $300 even for something as simple as getting prescribed antibiotics or for a leg injury ... "keep her in the crate for a couple weeks".Hope that vet works out for you!
From personal experience, exotic vet care can get insanely expensive, so that's something to consider if you're thinking of taking your birds in for any treatment.
