I think I'm seeing pointy hackle feathers, a sure sign that it's a cockerel. How old? Cockerels are under twelve months of age, roosters or cock birds are over twelve months old.

The big, bright red comb is giveaway number one. Big combs can be found in pullets, but these two together indicate male. At this age, we should also be able to see male-specific feathers growing in, in the neck, back and later on the wings of the bird
