Hello,
I have (3) yearling spaldings, possibly Jade. I think 2 are males, and 1 is female, but as I am not familiar with this breed's characteristics, I am unsure. Anyone have any idea?
Thanks.

My pictures are not very good. These birds are really flighty, and I couldn't get close enough, but the two with the darker bellies have yellow/orange patches on their cheeks. All 3 of them also have some metallic green in their tail feathers, and the long, dark legs like spaldings.

Here is a yearling Blue spalding ...
The saddle begins to color :

The hat is blue! .... not green !

The belly is ' black ' :

Low percentage hens.
That seems to be the consensus. And all of the pictures I've looked at of spaldings, only the pictures of the hens look like these birds. My male India blue, who is extremely territorial, thinks that two of them are male though... the two with the darker bellies. He was after both of them this breeding season, and chased the one for nearly a whole month before I could get it captured. And he never chases hens like that, just other males, so that throws me off a little. There were two with lighter colored bellies, I sold one of them, but while they were loose my India blue male never bothered them. Yeah, I have no idea. Lol. I guess time will tell. I was going to sell another one, but the person wants a male, and at this point, I'm clueless. I'll have to hold onto them until I'm positive one way or the other.

Could the dark bellies indicate they are carrying midnight or bronze?
I am not sure. I have a midnight spalding that I hatched, and these don't look like him colorwise. I did find a picture of a spalding green/bronze male, and the two with the darker bellies look similar. I asked Leggs peafowl farm, and they said that they are all spalding hens, which all the pictures I have looked at, they look like spalding hens, but my India blue male thinks that the two are male. He was very focused on chasing those two, instead of mating, until I managed to get them both captured. He never acted aggressive towards the one with the lighter belly.

Scratch that. It was a green/bronze hen.
