Can someone please help??

Thank you for your response, they eat a lot of the food, but I do have some layer pellets that I can try, we typically use the crumbles because they are what our scissor beak can eat.
That makes sense with your chicken who needs a little more help in the eating department. Anything you can do to give them some protein will most likely help. Best case scenario stop the eating of their feathers, worst case scenario help them grow back the feathers when you do figure it out. Scrambled eggs and mealworms are good in protein. I’ve been trying to give my chickens a good amount of protein since they have some issues from the mites they have had for I don’t know how long since we only got them a little over a month ago. Good luck and do keep us updated!

Thank you, I typically get treats with mealworms, but first thing in the morning I will scramble them eggs, my husband just brought in 6 from today (my chickens are strange, they lay in the afternoon).

Some of mine lay later in the day too and I’m like...um you know it’s 5 in the afternoon right? Lol :lau
My scissor beak and polish that are in one coop by themselves refuse to lay in a laying box or anything else I put in for them and they often lay right before going to bed. I had a warmer in their coop this winter and they really like laying their eggs behind that, but I have since taken that out and they just lay wherever now.

Well that sure is one way for them to end the day

She has a super cute expression with her scissor beak just making it have more personality! That must be pretty hard for her to eat. I’m not really familiar with scissor beaks, but it seems that she looks healthy. Does she live in the other coop with the other chicken because your other chickens were mean to her?

Yes, they all turned on her once they figured out she couldn't peck and pecked her almost to death just all of a sudden one day. When I arrived home from work they had pecked her into a bloody mess. We nursed her back to health in a large dog crate in our garage and tried to reintroduce her to the flock but they immediately started pecking her again, therefore my husband built an identical coop and placed it on the opposite end of the run and we found a younger flock mate and they love each other. She does REALLY well eating, we feed her in a deep dish and she scoops her food up; she also drinks out of a deep dish. She does love "mash" which is crumbles mixed with warm water, crushed egg shells and baby food.

That’s horrible they bullied her into a bloody mess! I never realized how mean chickens were until I had to reintroduce a couple of my chickens. My feelings changed about some of them lol. That was super nice your husband was willing to build another coop for her and you could find her a flock mate. I can’t say my husband would be willing to do all that! That’s awesome she eats well, aside from the eating part do chickens with scissor beaks have other issues?
