Can Stress kill chicks ?

My hen has been raising 6 chicks ( 10 weeks ) Only I was very close to them
I went to my granny's for 2 weeks
And left them with my parents
5 days ago mom called me and told me that hen was hanging out with neighbour rooster and chicks are scared and not coming out of the coop
I advised her to locked them in coop with food and water
In the evening two ( biggest of them ) were dead
Yesterday I came home and let them out
They are fine jumping on
shoulders and sitting in lap foraging here and there
Do you think stress is the real cause of death ?

Things that have changed is -
Hen treats me like stranger ( 0 trust )
Hen and Chicks ignores me completely when I call them for food

Yes stress can kill any animals even humans. but if they was locked in the coop and not good ventilation or high heat that was more likely why they died.
