Our 6 week olds have been eating Countryside Organic since birth up until 2 days ago when I switched them to DuMor. (temporary I hope,we are broke this week ) I know every 4th or 5th poop is supposed to be runny but now there is an excessive amount of runnies and they stink to high heaven. Nothing else is different, they are getting grass clippings, chickweed, and dandelion as usual. Countryside looks like real ground corn and seeds whereas DuMor looks like grey cat litter. In our old flock sometimes I would have to buy the cheap stuff from time to time and noticed the poop was super stinky but never caused sudden diarrhea. They are all still playing and don't look sick...

I just posted a question about stinky poop and the person who respond said that when she switched to that same brand her chicks experienced the same thing. I did notice it as well but it was more the funky smell that got me. I don't know where you are located but warmer weather is just around the corner and if your chicken can free range I bet it will cut down on your feed bill tremendously.

Yes they can get diarrhea . It happen to me the stores were out or the food was bad . Drove over 100 miles that day trying to fine there food. Had to get something for them to eat.Bad stinky poo

It smells better when they're eating weeds/bugs because they are eating less DuMor. I take my feeder out and make them clean the floor up before they get more food. Chickens are as wasteful as goats!

As soon as possible they will be eating nothing but what we grow/raise.
