Can the average large size Hen fit through a 4" fence?

We are getting 4 Barred Rock Chickens and would like to allow them to free range our yard. I am wondering if they would be able to get through our fence posts that we have surrounding our pool. The spacing is just under 4" wide. Here is a photo to help you see it.

It would be close. You could always just get some 2' chicken wire to wrap around the bottom of the fence if it became a problem.
