Can the eggs still hatch?

I don’t believe you will have problems going from vertical to horizontal, that’s how I have hatched some of mine, (but I’ve only been doing this a few years) the lock down phase helps to allow the chick to maneuver into the correct position if I’m not mistaken.

Hello, Today is day 15 and I think I have one dead.

The others are occupying almost the full size of the shell.
Should I remove it or wait?

And what your opinion regarding the air sack of the eggs, looks alright for day 15?

On the day 18 I plan to remove the egg tray/turner and place the eggs on the floor of the incubator, should I have problems as they are in the vertical position and they will be in the horizontal position?

Thank you.
I would pull that one out. It’s definitely dead. The eggs should be fine to go from vertical to horizontal. They use those last couple of days to get into position to hatch.

I generally candle as I go into lockdown but that is the type of egg I remove. A chick is not growing inside, you can remove it. Waiting until lockdown will not hurt but it also will not gain you anything.

They look OK to me. They don't all look exactly the same, which is normal. Different eggs lose moisture at different rates for a variety of reasons. Nature was nice enough to set a range for moisture loss, it doesn't have to be exact to work well. Those look to be in the right range.

You should not have any problems. That's what the manufacturer of my incubator (Hovabator brand) recommends and it is what I do.

Thank you for the replies, I removed the egg (I opened it out of curiosity and the embryo was very small).

I have another question if you could answer, the incubator (diy) have small holes each side and it have 2 fans, one inside circulating the air (always on) and one outside acting as an exhaustor to pull fresh air inside, the exhaustor its currently turning on for a minute every two hours only.

After the chick pips the shell it will need much more oxigen to breathe right? so what interval should I refresh the air inside? every 30 minutes or the current setting two hours is sufficient? or what you guys suggests?

Thank you!

As long as they are getting fresh air it should be fine. The main concern is not letting the humidity get too low (in fact most people increase it the last three days), as that will make it hard for them to get out. Most incubators just use vent holes as far as I know for the fresh air, so you're going above and beyond.

Thats why I decided to put an humidifier inside the incubator.
So, I decided to pull fresh air each 30 minutes, the humidity is very stable, that white box is the portable humidifier that turns on and off depending of the current humidity.
It drops 10% when the fan is pulling air from outside, but it raises again the next minute.

I hope I achieve a high hatch rate. :)
