I have a newly laying olive egger. She has layed a few 3oz double yolker but I noticed this week several shades of color difference. Today the egg looked blue.

Can the same hen be laying all these shades of green?

yes, especially when a new layer and her shell gland is just getting into action. It will settle down, though the brown bloom (over a blue shell) can vary a little with what they've eaten, lifelong.

Beautiful eggs!
I only have one that lays those color eggs and they do vary a bit. She only just started up from her winter break, so I don’t yet have photos to compare.
This is hers and her friend who is a Legbar and lays blue eggs (which also vary in tone from time to time).

I appreciate your knowledgeable reply. I was beginning to think I had another green egger beginning to lay! Yesterday’s egg looked like an Easter egger so blue!

This is my first olive egger so that’s all new. Thanks for sharing your cute eggs and the good information.

I didn’t know what eat could affect the shell color. I knew it could affect the yolk. That’s amazing!
