I got my very first egg yesterday!! My Barred Rock gave me my first egg. At least I think it was her. She has very red comb and wattles, 17 weeks old and squatting.

So today I ran to the coop after work to look for another egg. Yesterday I found one in the middle of the run. But today there was rain all day so the girls are staying dry in the coop. Wa-LA! An egg in the Nesting box! But im confused. It's smaller than the first egg. And an entirely different color. Can these be from the same girl?? All 10 girls are 17 weeks (approx). The suspects are EE, BO, BPR, GLW, Welsummers and a Brahma.

My EE's 1st, then 2&3rd. Same camera, both in natural light (outdoors).

Looks like you have two different early layers. All of my hens waited until well past 20 weeks to start laying. They look to be decent sized eggs too. Congrats. I’m not sure WHICH hen laid it but definitely not the same one.
Thank you. I hope so. Nothing is more rewarding than finding a shiny, beautiful, healthy egg 🥚 Making all the work worth it knowing they’re happy and healthy. 🐓 💕
