I am not a new member but I am new to posting a thread. My husband and I have 15 red hens,a very colourful rooster and a young rooster of the above breeds. We have decided to try and raise some turkeys and have 10 eggs in an incubator. We have also added 6 chicken eggs as we were told the having chicks in with them will help the Turks learn to eat and drink faster. My husband just read a post somewhere saying not to have Turks and chicken babies together because of disease. Is this in the incubator or after they come out? we do have separate pens for each.

Chickens can carry blackhead with no issues, but can kill turkeys.
Check with your local ag extension to see of blackhead is present in your area.
Not sure it would affect newly hatched chicks and poults.
I assume you added the chicken eggs after the turkey eggs had been in there for a week,
so they all hatch at the same time?
