I'm getting three 7 week old babies tomorrow. They are fully feathered. Currently the are in a basement without heat. I live in CT. Can they go outside all the time?

I definitely wouldn't free range yet, still way to young. Wait till they are at least 3 months, then they should be ready. As far as just having them live outside (as in live in a coop or pen outside), yes they are most definitely ready to get out there. I would move them out ASAP. My 7 week old chickens have been outside since I got them (3 days old), with only a heat lamp, and they did great. I moved them into there own coop at 5 weeks old, and my other 5 week old chicks at only 3 weeks old. Hope all this info helped and best of luck to you and your babies

Thank you. They have a coop and secure run they will be in. I know they can't free range yet and we have a hawk hanging out recently so I wouldn't

I start my chicks outside with a heating pad. That's it. We are in Northern Wyoming and temps out in the run where their brooder is ranged from the teens to the twenties when I brooded 3 batches out there. This year as soon as these chicks in the incubator are dry and fluffy, out they'll go too.

I am New to the board here. Live in south central Iowa. I have 8 pullets, 6 RIR and 2 Buffs. They're approximately 2 weeks old, feathers seem to be in.

Are they ready to be moved to the coop/house outdoors? They're calling for rain/sleet later this week.
