Two of my chickens dropped eggs on the roost tonight. I've never had this happen. I'm sure one was my australorp, but I don't know who the other one was because the second egg was busted. Can they tell if they need to poo or if an egg is coming? The autralorp is old hat at this and has been laying for over three months, why would she suddenly lay an egg while roosting?

maybe there favorite nesting box was occupied at the time, i know all 3 of mine use the same box and i have 4 nesting boxes for 3 chickens---go figure--- or is it chicken see chicken doo:> :> :>

I saw the Australorp in the nesting box earlier today, maybe she's just off on her schedule. I think the busted egg was one of my BR. I haven't seen her lay yet, but her comb has colored up and she's about 5 months old. I just thought it was odd.
