Can they tell the difference?????

I am having a problem with the adult birds chasing the younger birds out of their feeder.

I have one very large coop split with wire fence, on one side is the adults and the other is the juvenile birds. Both feeders are full. The adults have layer crumble and the juvies have finisher/grower crumbles. Well the adults have figured out that they can go outside and come in the juvie side and eat their food. I have to stand inside the coop to make sure the little ones can eat.
I admit they have me scratching my head, its like they know.

I'm telling ya...chickens are a lot smarter than I have ever given them credit for. Until we got them a couple months ago,I would have never believed a chicken could be this smart.
