Can this be salvaged?

That would make a Fantastic coop! I would replace the bottom row of wood with pressure treated if possible to slow the rot of wood! Wire over the windows is a must! About the door maybe cover the outside by running a 2x2 or 2x4 around the outside of the door? Add a 2x4 inside for a roost and a nest box or 2 then you got yourself a chicken coop! Your shed has a lot of potential! And also....

Oh that's very salvageable....lots of room and in pretty good shape....that looks like a really great project. I agree with other posters...replace the roof and the bottom foot or two of siding....pressure treated would be best. Put in a run and some hardware cloth and maybe some furring around the door to close the gaps and you've got a great coop. I hope it works out...would love to see the results.

First thing I'd do is the roof. You've got major leakage there. I think I would redeck it and reroof with tin, for the nostalgic effect.

I'd love to have that project, best wishes!

In addition to all of the tips so far - I would seal the wood outside and paint it to make the wood last longer. Knowing me, I would also caulk it to death but that's just me. I've caulked, primed, painted the insides of my coops, too... and added a layer of varnish on the inside... bugs can't get into the cracks, it's easier to clean and it's prettier. I would love a project like that! Have fun!

Thanks for all the info everybody. I really appreciate it. I plan on getting started tomorrow. If anybody else has any suggestions, by all means please share.
