Can u eat duck eggs?

All bird eggs are edible. Chickens became the egg of choice simply because their feed to egg conversion ratio is economical, they mature quickly, and frequency of laying is good.

Last summer I got runner ducks. I made some coconut macaroons with the eggs, they were awesome!! The whites whipped up real nice.

I also like baking with them.

Duck eggs are a little too rich for me by themselves. I sometimes scramble one duck egg with 4 or 5 chicken eggs then it evens out well. I always use duck eggs for baking. Once you have baked with duck eggs chicken eggs won't cut it anymore.

I like duck eggs better than chicken eggs. I have a mild allergy to chicken eggs - they smell like rotten eggs after being processed in my body - and duck eggs don't do that to me! They don't have that sulfur smell to them, either.

When I used to buy fresh eggs from a friend, she used to put duck eggs in my order regularly. I didn't know which was which, and didn't know there was much of a difference. I didn't eat them very often, though, because of the side effects. I didn't know that the duck eggs wouldn't bother me!

Normally I haven't cooked with the duck eggs. Right now they are hiding them from me - darn it!! But, I did use one in the cornbread the other night. Man, was it tasty!! I was surprised. Everyone noticed how good the corn bread was, and thought I had bought a new brand of mix from the store.

I haven't tried the goose eggs, yet, but since my gander is gone I guess we can eat some of those this year. I understand that they make the best homemade noodles ever.

As far as quail eggs - I even read once that they can help people with allergies. I can't prove it, and don't remember where I read it, but it was interesting. They are tiny, and I think they would make much better pickled eggs than those giant hens eggs they use!

Oh yes duck eggs are best for baking, I was told that they have a higher fat content??
My duck buries her eggs at least 6 inches underground and covers them with grass and twigs etc.
I think she lays at night as Ive never seen her lay during the day.
She always chooses a different spot to make her nest with each brood of ducklings.
I adore my duckies.

My dog groomer friend gets paid by one of her customers in fresh egg, bantam, chicken, duck and goose, it is a very unusual selection to say the least. Shes given me a few and I've baked with them all, I had to fry the bantam eggs just cause they were so cute!
