Can we help the turkey or is death only option

Turkeys are tougher than people think they are. I am sure that your vet was being overly cautious. I and others have had turkey hens heal from breeding wounds without any interference other than putting Blu-kote on the wound. In some cases, I did not even do that and the turkey healed fine on their own.

I agree but I much rather be safe than sorry. She was our pet so she was very important to us.

Mine had an identical injury, I also used blu kote on it and it healed up just fine :)
Best wishes!
So I just had this same type of injury on my turkey yesterday and we are going to buy the blue kote as I've seen suggested but should I wrap the skin up against her or just leave it? My tutkrys wounds and skin tears is all on her breast area so I'm unsure cause the skins just hanging? Any help would be greatly appreciated cause this sweet girl is my babysnd csn I give her anything for the pain?

if there is an veterinarian that will see her, take her to the vet. She may need stitches with hanging skin, depending on how it hangs, but if the skin is hanging for a while it may already be getting necrotic. If you have a big skin flappy and the skin becomes necrotic it should be trimmed up. watch out for maggots. blue kote is good stuff. I use a special wound balm but blue kote is easier to get ahold of.

I do not have access to vet so that options off the table for me. I did go and buy vetericyn plus antimicrobial poultry care spray and the blue kote and I also bought some electrolytes for her water. She is eating and drinking great and she's moving around very good as well. If you didn't know she was injured you'd think she was fine. I'm keeping her in her own separate kennel now and not letting her out. We are watching her very closely and no maggots or anything so far. I will take pictures so you have a better idea of what I'm dealing with. We did have her wrapped thinking that the skin would heal itself back to her breast but then everything I've read nobody said anything about wrapping so I took it off thinking maybe I should just keep it open and let it just dry up or do whatever nature does? I've never dealt with a issue this severe before so I'm at a loss of what to do but I do think that she can be saved or I'd of all ready put her down. But this sweet girl is a fighter so I'm gonna for for her as well.

These are the pics I got but warning the pictures are also showing the blue kote on her so that’s actually purple but looks red.

keep the meat moist with some sort of wound balm and keep an eye on the hanging skin, it may need trimming if it gets necrotic. pocket type wounds like that are harder to deal with in a way because of the way they drain. if the meat dries out it may die. Stitches would have helped here to bring that skin flap over the meat but because of the way the flap is oriented drainage is annoying, however you likely have shrinkage by now so stitches are probably out. I am not a veterinarian, I am just going by previous experiences including breeding injuries that looked similar to that. As long as she continues eating and is tolerating her hospital pen, that is great
