Dog training thread

Yep! Some people use it to regulate blood pressure/heart rate (eg. for POTS or similar conditions). It can also be used to calm someone down, basically the same way a weighted blanket does. I have him do it mainly for my anxiety, and it is grounding when I get overwhelmed/overstimulated.
Before Jäger got too rowdy and big, I had him lay on my legs for some DPT for my Dysautonomia (which POTS is a type of). It was great! And it didn't just help my circulation, it also regulated my nervous system and it just felt sooo good. I wish he were calm enough to keep doing it. 😂

Where’s my picture?

Oh he is adorable! How old? What breed/mix? How much does he weigh? More pictures.
He's about 6ish, not sure what breed (likely lab x border collie) I think he weighs 50-60lbs

Any tips on training a lgd to stand between it's owner and a perceived threat? Dogs are all reasonably well trained. Doesn't jump. Extremely friendly. Knows sit, stand, leave it, stay, shake etc. I want one to run to my children and shield them when needed. I've had several incidents and my 4 dogs just want pets from methheads instead of to chase them off 🙃 😒 😑

The send away would an easy thing to train, but if you actually want them to do it with that state of mind that would be much harder. For example, a targeted bark is easy to train, but it doesn’t mean the dog perceives what it’s barking at as a threat. Do you want to dog to simply stand in between or actually protect your children? Those are very different. But any LGD is gonna look terrifying so the first might be all you need.
