We had two young ones, male and female wander onto our property many years ago in a different house.

Months later, we found the owners and they wanted them back if we could catch them. We were ready to give them back. They had HUGH poops and their favorite place to be was on our patio and the rail of our porch. They came by in the mornings and late afternoons to watch "people TV" through our sliding glass doors of windows. If we were in the living room, they hunkered down and watched us. If we moved to the kitchen or living room they moved to the rail of the patio to watch through the windows. Fresh peacock poop squishes between your barefoot toes!!!!!

So my DH began to feed them on the ground, waited until they were both close together and then netted them. We placed them in dog crates and returned them to the owners who promptly placed them in a covered run to get them used to staying on their property. Apparently, the first time they had not kept them "in" long enough.

Good luck with yours!

Boy, I'd love to have a peacock. Wish I had a ton of land and no neighbors to object to the screaming.

They are apparently pretty darned tough, too. I used to know a small colony that lived mostly unprotected (they did have access to an unheated barn) in the rural far north of Utah.

My peacock use to belong to a neighbor a few places down. He got into a fight with another peacock next door and I guess he lost since he came to my house and the other went home. He has been here for months and loves trying to woo my banty hen.

I never bothered to contact the neighbor since I have seen him drive by and see him in my yard all fanned out and never bothered to stop. My next door neighbor said the other guy only has one male and one female left and I know he use to have more. So either he sold some or the rest are wondering the neighborhood.

I would catch him just like I do when our neighbours peacock comes to visit and starts fights with my boys through the fence.....(as pretty as it is, its a pain in the rear)

Take some sort thin rope(I use baling twine)make a little sling on one end and a little loop on the other(to hold on to). Make the rope as long as you think the bird will come close to you.Throw some feed on the ground, put the sling somewhere near the spot you put the feed and then sit down at the end of the rope and just wait for him to step in it with one(or both) foot while he is busy eating and then pull. After 1 or 2 attempts to fly away the bird will usually give up and let you "reel" it in.
Grab it by the legs once in reach and then cradle it in your arms(but don't let go of the legs!!!), oh and keep its butt away from you, peafowl "fear-poop" is gross.

This method also works really well with turkeys and the like.
