Anyone who has ducks will tell you about the mess and smell they make. We keep our duck pens away from the chickens. They are nasty, smelly and the flies. ugh. The ducks are DH's and he cleans their pen everyday. You could split a coop but their side will be very muddy,smelly and you will wish they were far away. I don't know what northerners do in winter, Here winter or summer they are hosed out everyday. There were many days last year when the hoses were frozen that we carried water to the pen to clean up.
